Things to Do in Lombok

Day Trips & Adventures from Selong Belanak
Lombok rewards the curious. Beyond the beaches and surf around Selong Belanak, the island opens up into jungle waterfalls, a smoking volcano, highland villages and a world-class racetrack — most of it within day-trip range of Boni Beach. Chase the twin falls of Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep, or the gentler cascades at Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu, and cool off in the pools beneath.
For the bold, Mount Rinjani's crater rim is one of Southeast Asia's great treks, with the cool highland valleys of Sembalun at its feet. Closer to the coast you can glide over the hills with Sky Lancing paragliding, dive the reefs off Kuta with Blue Marlin, or visit the Mandalika International Street Circuit, home to Lombok's MotoGP round. Here's our local pick of the best things to do around Lombok, and how to reach each from Selong Belanak.
Sembalun

The Gateway to the Highlands Nestled in an ancient volcanic caldera east of Mount Rinjani, the Sembalun district offers a refreshing escape with its cool mountain climate and patchwork of agricultural fields. It is not just the starting point for the Rinjani summit push; it is a destination in its own right.
The Experience: Explore the "Strawberry Fields," take a scenic drive through the valley, or tackle one of the rewarding day-hikes like Pergasingan Hill, which offers panoramic views of Rinjani without the multi-day commitment.
Mandalika International Street Circuit

World-Class Motorsport in Paradise Lombok made history in 2021 with the opening of the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, bringing world-class racing back to Indonesia. Located just a short drive from Boni Beach, this circuit hosts major events like MotoGP and WorldSBK.
The Experience: Even when there isn't a race on, the precinct is a marvel of engineering set against a backdrop of tropical hills and ocean. It represents the exciting new future of South Lombok tourism.
Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfall

The Jungle Icons of the North Located in the village of Senaru within the Mount Rinjani National Park, this pair of waterfalls offers a true jungle adventure.
Sendang Gile: A towering two-tiered cascade that is easily accessible via a well-maintained path.
Tiu Kelep: A deeper trek across streams leads you to this majestic waterfall. Famous for the powerful mist that blasts through the canyon, local legend says the cool waters here have youth-restoring properties.
Sky Lancing Lombok Paragliding

Soar Above the Coastline See the island from a completely new perspective. Sky Lancing offers tandem paragliding flights that launch from the hills overlooking the spectacular southern coastline.
The Experience: With professional pilots handling the controls, you can enjoy a bird's-eye view of turquoise bays, rolling green hills, and pristine white sands. It is an adrenaline rush that remains peaceful and scenic—arguably the best sunset seat in Lombok.
Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall

Lombok’s Most Photogenic Cascades Located in the lush Aik Berik region of Central Lombok, these waterfalls are famous for their unique geological formations and are closer to the hotel than the northern falls.
Benang Kelambu: The name means "Curtain of Threads," describing how the water flows gently through lush vines and hanging plants rather than plunging off a cliff. It creates a soft, magical curtain of water that is perfect for photography and a refreshing dip.
Benang Stokel: A twin waterfall plunging into a shallow pool, ideal for a quick nature trek.
Blue Marlin Dive Kuta Lombok

Discover the Underwater World South Lombok is home to untouched coral reefs, vibrant marine life, and uncrowded dive sites. We recommend Blue Marlin Dive, a renowned professional dive center known for its safety standards and expert local knowledge.
The Experience: Whether you are looking to get your PADI certification or want a guided fun dive to see sea turtles, rays, and macro life, they are our first choice for exploring the deep blue.
Mount Rinjani

The Summit Challenge Mount Rinjani is not just a mountain; it is the fiery heart of Lombok. Rising to 3,726 meters, it is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia and dominates the landscape of North Lombok.
The Trek: Ideally done as a 2-day or 3-day expedition, this hike is a bucket-list experience for adventurers.
The Views: The summit offers unrivaled sunrise views stretching across to Bali’s Mount Agung and the Gili Islands.
Segara Anak: The trek often includes a descent to the stunning crescent-shaped crater lake, a spiritual site for the Sasak people and a magical place to camp.
Gili Islands

The three Gili Islands — Trawangan, Meno and Air — lie off Lombok’s northwest coast: a cluster of white-sand islands ringed by turquoise shallows, snorkelling reefs and sea-turtle grounds, with no cars or motorbikes anywhere on them. Gili Trawangan is the liveliest, with beach bars and dive schools; Gili Meno is the quiet, honeymoon island; and Gili Air sits somewhere between the two.
From Boni Beach in Selong Belanak the Gilis are a half-day mission — a drive up to Bangsal harbour, then a short public or fast boat across — so they’re best enjoyed as an overnight escape rather than a day trip. We’re happy to help you arrange transport and boats.
Keep exploring Lombok
